Response: Connecting to a Global Tribe

This person, Matt Harding had a backpacking trip – and danced unusually while he was recording video. Soon, this video became the most – well known video of the world. Eventually, some viewers offered him to keep make video with sponsorships. After he made one video, he made another two more video (70 countries were shown at that video) for viewers. As these videos got famous, tons of people wanted to dance with him to support the video. So, he invited people to join in every place, from Toronto to Tokyo to other country. Through this journey, he realized that “People want to feel connected to each other, they want to be heard or seen and they’re curious to hear and see others from places far away.” – Connecting to a Global Tribe, by Matt Harding.

As I read through this article and see this video, I thought - how it’ll feel when you were dancing with him. However, I realized that everyone in the video including Matt Harding were smiling and laughing and cheering. We all laugh, cheer and smile – we are same, we are connected. He, Matt Harding started making this video for fun then this video turned into a one globalization. I hope you will also be someone like him, one day.

A Smile of Complement - Response

Response to "A Smile of Complement", from http://breakingfrozenseas.blogspot.com/.

As I read through the story about the complement, I started to think, it would be awesome if someone complements me. It would make me really happy and pleasure.

Be honest with you, I can't even think when I got compliment - maybe, a long time ago. The complement will make your friendship much better.

I was surprised that some people are enjoying complementing. The video really impressed me because eventhough you don't know that person, you compliment them to make them feel happy!

I think this quote would best fit to this respond...

“Everybody likes a compliment.” spoken by Abraham Lincoln, the past president of United States.

My name - Kevin

My name, a bit complicated – pronouncing and figuring out what’s my name means, but meaningful. My name has the meaning “Be brave, friendly and live long”

Every person I met says, “It’s a good name” – but not saying “Best”. Maybe, I agree, because I am really positive about both names – one unique; the other one is common- really common. Honestly speaking, I love Min Jae more than Kevin however I also love to be called “Kevin”.

My Korean name is not taken from any of my family members – or even neighborhoods. However, my name was taken from the “Name Shop” (In Korea, it is not easy to find Name Shops where people make a good meaningful name for new born baby – of course it is paid service, not free of charge.) In the Name Shop, there are mostly old people who learned Chinese, long time ago. They create the unique names by using the finest Chinese characters.

This “Name Shop” has been established a long time ago – about 50 years. My father’s name, Kang Tae Woo (Daniel) also came from this name shop. So does my brother’s name later from the shop!

My English name was obviously not taken from the Korean name shops. However, I took “Kevin” from the film named “ Home Alone”. The main character of this movie is “Kevin”. This “Kevin” was knowledgeable and smart boy who fights with two stupid burglars by using his cleverness. I really loved this boy, and I wanted to be someone like him, who bashes two terrible men without an other’s help. I took his name as my English name. Soon, I came to foreign country, Malaysia – and I was no longer Min Jae Kang. I became Kevin Kang.

Some of you would think that Kevin is not a unique name that has no meanings at all, but I don’t agree. I would like Kevin to be interpreted as “Knowledgeable, brave, friendly, and maybe a bit naughty”.

My both name would be wonderful - if you can remember my name, Kevin, Min Jae Kang!

The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lao Tzu, Chinese Taoist Philosopher, wrote this amazing quotes in 604 BC - 531 BC. The reason why I chose this quote as my blog and post title is that, it's really descriptive. It's not only reason that I chose this quote, this describes the starting point of the journey.

If you look at the herotic myth books, you can realize that they begin the journey and finish the journey safely. Hero start the journey with one step, it will carry on with the rest of the journey. So the meaning of this means "If you start something - journey, start with one step, don't surrender without trying".

If you look at the picture below, the tourist at the hill is looking at the mountain - maybe sighing and thinking "It will take too long to go there". But, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step! You won't achieve anything if you don't start your journey with one step.

The tourist is equipped with only foods and stick - that's all. No games, no friends, and no scientific equipment. However, he will begin the journey, one step and another step to the destination!
