Any other comments...

I played the games from Mrs. Whiting's blog and it was about the battle of hasting. There were two games and I personally liked the 2nd game. Let me introduce these two games breifely. 1nd game pretty boring - I suggest you not to play. This 2nd game was mostly fighting game where you really get to control the army and attack enemy - really suggest if you are boy or like fighting stuff. The reason I liked this game was that this was actually war game which really attracted me. From this game, I learnt that war isn't easy to do and it's better if we just don't declare a war. I also realized how many people died from the invasion.

This history - battle of hasting begins in 1066 at England. There was a king named Edward who was really sick and old. He needed a successor but he only had one nephew named Egar. However, he was too young to be his successor so instead, he chose Harlord Godwinson. Everyone knew he would be Edward's successor because he had control of army and he was very noble man. Most importantly, his sister was Edward's wife. Therefore, he became a successor of Edward. Soon, Edward died and the day of Edward's burial - Harlord was crowned.

The Boy In Striped Pyjamas Reflection

The Boy In Striped Pyjamas was set in the past. Why should you care about the issues raised in the book? Should we continue to study this book in Grade 7?

The setting of this book was awkward. The setting was during the World War II, time when the holocaust began. Millions of innocents died from this. This book is about an innocent German boy from with his strict father. Because of his dad's job, he moved to a place called "Out-With". Obviously as a reader, we know that this is a foreshadowing because "Out-With" is actually a concentration camp however, this boy doesn't know. Anyway, he was bored to death so secretly, he went to explore outside the house and met a friend named "Shumel". He was Jewish and he was born same date as Bruno was born. By the way, I think Shumel has more knowledge than Bruno because Bruno doesn't know what's happenening around the world and he doesn't know why Shumel is kept inside the "Cage". As the time passes, Bruno started to gain knowledge and had several questions. What's inside that area? How many people are there? And Bruno wanted to see visually, not just by hearing. So obviously, Bruno secretly crawled under the chain and went inside. Then unfortuntely, Bruno and Shumel were forced to go to the gas chamber and their lives were taken by soldiers.

As I read this book, I thought we should talk and care about this history more seriously. We can learn bravery, kindness, etc as you learn about this terrible moment. Also, we should care about this because we have to make sure that there are no more wars and holocaust which will create a disaster throughout the world. Also, I think we should keep this topic for next year too because this will educate the youngs to think "this shouldn't happen again". Educating youngs will eventually create a less percentage of having another holocaust because we are going to be adult and we will know what to do.

The Power of the Void (Int. Band) - Story

The Power of the Void - Story

I would name this story "Miserable Lottery" because usually, if you win a lottery - you should be happy but, it's opposite. If you win a lottery - you become miserable. That's why I named as "Miserable Lottery". As I read the story, I thought serious consequences will happen if you get something unique on the paper because there were lots of hints so, I could easily predict what was going to happen. However, I didn't know the real story but then I was so fraustrated when teacher didn't give me the end of the story. Then, I received the mysterious paper with the sentence written down - "Do not open until 5 p.m and follow the instructions" instead of the end of story and thought there was a mission. So, I actually opened the mysterious paper on about 6:00 o'clock eventhough I was so curious what was inside. As I opened the paper, I thought that there was a long void.

As I read the story, the story was kept mentioning the black box. I thought that that box is connected to the "lottery". Anyway, I got the end of the story and felt, this wasn't right. I thought this ritual should be changed because they can't kill one person because she/ he was unlucky. My prediction was that Tessie would be kicked out from the village and the prediction was almost right. It was something to do with the banning, kicked out and killed. I could have made better prediction if I had carefully understood every sentence.

I think author has left these voids in the story because this makes reader curious, excited, and predictions. First above all, there was no title and the autor information. So, I didn't know the key points of this story because there was no title. Second, there was no ending. This really created the attention. Text clues and foreshadowing made readers predict. Mystery paper and delayed ending also created the "Power of the void" because we weren't allowed open until 5 o'clock.

Overall, I thought this was great example of "the power of the void".

Power of the Void - Int. Band

ISKL Mission Statement

The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to become a highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.

Insert the word (silence) in the statement in the place that you think would create the most tension.

The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides (silence) an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the (silence) attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to become a (silence) highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.

Explain in one paragraph why you think your VOID would create tension for the listener.

First above all, my VOID will create a certain tention for the listener because I created the VOID at the climax of this statement and this will create the question and the curiosity. Second, I created the VOID in the random place, but created the VOID in the place where listener gets to hear more about. Third, I created the VOID at the main part of the sentence so that listeners get more attention to it. So, my VOID will create the tension for the listner.

One of the Best Journey Books

In Korea, we call anthum - the weather of books. It's the best weather to read books and rest. So, I want to recommand you the best series, I've ever read. It's not Harry Potter - even though, it's exciting. It's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". They have five books - The Lightnin' Theif, Sea of Monsters, Titan's Curse, Labyrinth... something and Last Olympian. It's the best myth-fantasy books right now. It has lots of climax and wars - which is really interesting for boys and a bit of romance for girls.

The cycle of a hero just fits to this book's protagonist, Percy. They have a final battle and etc. It's the best book you can read, and I think you are gonna miss it. Read it now!

Everyday is a Journey

Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.”

You start the morning with fresh air and start with your school journeys. Everything is journey, everyday is journey. You learn something new, you find out interesting things, that's what you do in journey and what you get from journey. If you think of a word "Journey", you should probably think a group of people wearing trip backpacks and hiking to mountains.

That's not what I think. I think journey can be anything. It can be something with school backpack, because we always starts new journey. Or it can be something like book, like you starting a morning with books. That's what I think. It doesn't have to be related to hiking or walking.

For example, you have some challenge in your daily life. That's one of your journey. In normal journey, people hike and reach the top to challenge theirselves. Eventhough, it's not something like that, you have journey in your mind - challenging and challenging until you can do it. So, for me, I think everyday is a new life, fresh day, and a wonderful journey. How about you?
