Rome was not built in a day - May 25th

Hi! Have you ever heard of the title, "Rome was not built in a day"? It's the proverb/idiom used in everywhere in the world now. Let me explain about this proverb.

The Orgin of This Proverb

This proverb was familiar to French proverb, 'Rome was not made all in one day,' which was recorded in 'Li Proverbe au Vilain' (c. 1190). The English version did not appear until three centuries later, when Richard Taverner said 'Rome was not buylt in one day,'. This is the orgin of this proverb.

This proverb means that...

Any great plan or big dream cannot be achieved overnight or easily.

many things cannot be done instantly, and require time and patience.

It takes a long time to create something complicated or impressive.

You can’t build a good thing in a short period or maybe even in one attempt. You have to give try many time to make it perfect rather then being in a hurry to do something and getting disappointed.

If you want to achieve something, or if you have a goal in life then work hard to achieve it and if your goal is really far fectched or you expect perfect results then it will take some time because Rome wasn’t built overnight.

There is some example....

My sister was in hospital as a teenager and she asked her doctor why she needed to wait so long for her operation. He replied, Rome wasn't built in a day. Meaning, there are lots more patients waiting and you have to take your place in the queue.

Friend:“Are you still working on that same painting?”
The Painter: “Hey! Rome was not built in one day!”

Kevin (It really happened…): I am going to study my big test in one day!
My friend: “Rome was not built in one day!” “You’ll get bad grades!” (True…)

Maybe now, you should know what's the meaning of this proverb.... Thanks! ^^

Do you know that today, May 13th is the bad day for every Malaysian? Probably, most of you guys won't know anything about this because Malaysian hates to talk about this. They never ever talk about this anymore unless you don't know what happened. Before the story, you guys know that there are three races in Malaysia. "Chinese-Malaysian" "Malaysian" "India-Malaysian" So, here is story.

Approxitmely 40 years before, there was a election of Malaysia. There were lots of candidates and the one person was elected. The candidate race was "Chinese-Malaysian". Soon, Chinese-Malaysian" started to tease Malaysian that their race is way better than other races. Then, Malaysian also started to tease them. So, the fight began.

In the Kuala Lumpur, there were lots of people dying in the street even though they were innocent. Because of situation, many people died who lived in K.L. Later, the war/fight ended with lots of damages. So, they decided to talk about how to prevent from this situation again and this "Gathering" is still going.

Today, there will be the "Gathering" and vice-president and prime minister will participate this event. I hope this won't happen again!

Both Kevin Having Sleepover - May 6th 2009

No one in Malaysia knew that Kevin (Kang) & Kevin (Ma) were going to have sleepover together. Even I didn't know, and he didn't know. The problem began when we talked about the math.

"Hey! I really need someone to work with my math!" I said to Kevin.M.
"What math? I can help you with it..." Kevin M told me.
"Oh, then I will go to your home after the school... Thanks!" I replied back.

In 6 p.m, I walked to Damai where he lives with my math books and note book. While I was walking through the main entrance of the Damai, I heard a voice.
"Hey! Over here! Can't you see?" Kevin.M shouted to me. Soon, I realized that he was shouting at me from his home. I rushed to his home. He welcomed and we went straight to his room. I took out my things and we started. "What's x-15=2x+14?" As we worked together, we started to concentrate and did our work faster than we thought. "Wow! Finally, we master the equation!" I said with happiness. Then, his mother entered the room where we were studying and asked for fruit. But we didn't reply her, we kept studying math. When she tried to talk to us, we kept studying, not talking. Because we were studying really hard, she was impressive and told us. "Wanna do sleepover with Kevin.M?" She said to me.
As soon as she said that we turned around as fast as I could and we started to yell with pleasure. "Sure!"

Soon, we were playing, not studying math anymore. We played computer game and started to chat with people. When everyone slept expect us, we were hungry and decided to make "Korean Noodle". We sneak up into the kitchen and started to make it. "Hurry! Your mom will be here!" We finished and brought it at room. "Wow! It taste awesome! We shouted together. Even though, we had lots of mistakes while we were making, but it was still fun and delicious.

When the time was 3 a.m, we decided to sleep. "Nighty night!" I shouted in his ear.

I woke up at 8 a.m, saying "What a fresh day!". I loved that setence so much. After washing our face, we faced the computer and started to play AGAIN. Then suddenly, her mom came and told us to shut down the computer. So we did. She said "Play sports or study" so, we decided to study but that was obviously a trick. When his mother came, we pretended that we were studying but when she was gone, we played and played. In 3'0 clock, we went to Wendy, the fastfood restruant to eat hamburger. After that, we went to our home and swam about 4 hours. (That was pretty long time.) While Kevin.M was swimming, he got injured a lot but I didn't. I was used to play and swim in my pool.

Soon, it was time to go. He leaved from my home at about 9'0 clock. So overall, it was fun and we played 25 HOURS and actually, we didn't mean to play together. We only met together to study the math but... we had sleepover and played together.

I loved it!

Children's Day - May 5th 2009

Hi guys, as you can see the title, it says "Children's Day". Today, May 5th is the "Children's Day" in Korea and everyone don't attend the school, they travel and play with their friend. In Korea, over 14 years old are not child anymore. We call it "Teenager" in English. However today, my brother is 13 years old and I am 14 years old so, I could see enjoy the Children's day. We had dinner together and our parents bought us a gift. I love this holiday. ^^

I want to share about "Children's Day" 's history. Jung Hwan Bang, is the person who started this celebration. In Early Korea, the children were not as precious as adult did and he wanted to changed that. He wanted to make one day for children only. So, he did. He decided that the "Children's Day" is going to be on May 1st. After long years, the May 1st was day for "Workers" so, they decided to change the "Children's day" to "May 5th"

He loved the children and there is one quote about children. "Let's make a children's day so that at least they can enjoy one day out of one year" (Translated into English...) When they are deciding what date might be good, they realized that May is the most beautiful month and they set the children's day on May.

The first "Children's Day" began on May 1st, 1923 in Seoul. There were lots of supporters such as "Josun Newspaper, Dong-a Newpaper". There were one thousand children and adult who participated this first celebration. They sang a "Children's Day" song in Korean.

In July 23rd, 1931, he passed away in small hospital. His age was 33, young enough to live longer. "Why do I have to die even though there are lots of children waiting for me..." This quote was the last quote that he said while he was dying.

So next year, you can say to your parents, "Today is Children's Day!"
